Interior visits to King Ludwig II's Schloss Neuschwanstein are strictly by timed 35-minute guided or audio-guide tour. Official tickets cost €18 for adults (plus a €2.50 online reservation fee at hohenschwangau.de; children and under-18s enter free but still require a €2.50 timed reservation). Summer and autumn dates frequently sell out 3 to 6 weeks in advance.

Getting Up the Hill from Hohenschwangau Village

From the Ticket Center in Hohenschwangau village, allow at least 60 minutes before your printed entry time:

  • Shuttle Bus to Marienbrücke: €3.50 uphill / €3.00 round-trip (cash to the driver), dropping you 100 meters from the famous Marienbrücke bridge viewpoint above the Pöllat Gorge, followed by a 10-minute downhill walk to the castle gate.
  • On Foot: A paved, moderately steep 35–40 minute forest walk (1.5 km) straight up from the village.
