Deutschlandticket (€58 Monthly Pass) for Tourists (2026): What It Covers & How to Cancel

How international visitors can use Germany's €58 monthly Deutschlandticket for unlimited S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams, buses, and RE/RB regional trains—and how to avoid automatic renewal charges.

What the €58 Deutschlandticket Covers

Priced at €58 per calendar month in 2026, the Deutschlandticket (D-Ticket) provides unlimited 2nd-class travel across all 16 German federal states on:

  • All regional and commuter trains: RE (Regional-Express), RB (Regionalbahn), S-Bahn, BRB, Metronom, agilis, and erixx.
  • All city public transport: U-Bahn (subways), Straßenbahn (trams), and city/regional buses in Berlin (BVG), Munich (MVV), Hamburg (HVV), Cologne (KVB), Frankfurt (RMV), Stuttgart (VVS), Dresden (DVB), and every other German transit union.
  • Even Hamburg's scenic Elbe Harbor Ferry 62 and direct airport S-Bahn/regional links at Berlin (BER), Munich (MUC), Frankfurt (FRA Regionalbahnhof), Hamburg (HAM), and Cologne/Bonn (CGN).

What Is NOT Included

Long-distance white high-speed trains (ICE, IC, EC), private FlixTrain services, and historic narrow-gauge steam tourist railways (like the Harz Brockenbahn) are excluded.

The Calendar-Month & 10th-of-the-Month Cancellation Trap

The Deutschlandticket is valid strictly for one calendar month (e.g., May 1 to May 31) and is sold as a recurring monthly subscription. With Deutsche Bahn and most municipal apps, you must cancel by the 10th day of the current month so you are not billed for the following month. International tourists booking after the 10th of the month should purchase through authorized German mobility providers like mo.pla or HVV Switch that accept international credit cards/Apple Pay and allow pause/cancellation up to 24 hours before month-end.
